The next meeting of the Green Mountain Quilters Guild will be
Saturday, May 17, 2014
Old Labor Hall, 46 Granite Street in Barre
Every spring, the GMQG hosts an auction of items donated by members as a fundraiser for the statewide guild. This works in a similar fashion to our ever-popular Bags, Baskets, and Bowls at our quilt show.
Each guild is encouraged to bring in at least one item for the auction, and the larger guilds are encouraged to bring in more than one. Items include: quilter’s stash, books, homemade items (including food), and other craft items. (No magazines, please.)
All members guilds (and NLQG is one because we have so many Vermont members and are so close to the border of NH/VT) are asked to take turns running the auction, and this year, NLQG has been asked to do this.
So far, I have one volunteer (Lynn Wheatley, thank you Lynn) and I will be able to help because I don’t have to take notes during this part of the meeting. (I’m the recording secretary for GMQG.) We could use at least one more volunteer, two would be optimal.
We don’t have to bring a thing, just ourselves (and our incredible beauty). Volunteering includes: taking in donations, arranging them on the tables for the auction, taping small bags (for tickets) to the table, selling tickets, and passing out the items to the winners.
Also, the program is set and GMQG is proud to welcome art quilter MIchele O’Neil Kincaid who will do an amazing trunk show of her work. You can see some of it on her website: http://fiberartdesigns.com (If you look carefully at the picture on the home page, you’ll see our own smiling Michelle—Goldsmith, that is.)
Everyone is encouraged to attend. Membership to GMQG is only $15 a year and you can download a membership form at the guild website here: http://greenmountainquiltersguild.weebly.com
Lynn and I are very good company and we’d welcome yours to help out with this auction. Besides, there will be green leaves and flowers out by then! (Promise!)
