Quilt show winners!!!

Well. The list of winners really would be everybody that saw the show. It was FABULOUS!!

HUGE thanks and kudos to Tracey Maloney for being show chair! A huge task and very well done! And, of course to all of the ladies of the guild (and some of their family members) who put so much time and effort into putting it all together.

The lucky winner of the raffle quilt was Grace Dellinger

Now, to the winners of viewer choice awards. Congratulations to all of you! (and thanks to Chris Maute for the photos!)

7:00 PM    –     Program: Trunk Show – “Perfection is Overrated”, By Beth Helfter

A lively presentation of Beth’s quilt making journey, from her first frighteningly awful attempt at self-taught quilting to eventually founding Eva Paige Quilt Designs with her own line of unique patterns. Included are thoughts on the design process as it unfolds in 20 minute increments in the midst of the chaos of running a home and raising three small children, how a quilt can be a thing of beauty even without matching seams and perfect points, and the many joys of bringing her designs to the masses and discovering that they often can become converts to the freeing idea that “perfection is overrated”.

Sonja’s interview with Nancy

Hurray for Sonja for getting the word out!

For patients suffering from the effects of Parkinson’s disease, specially made lightweight quilts provide much needed comfort. The Parkinson’s Comfort Project provides small quilts, light enough for patients to move with their weak muscles, but warm enough to take the chill off and provide a source of comfort. Make a monetary donation, or sew a small lightweight quilt to donate to this project.

Quilt Show/Festival sew day

This Saturday January 17th is our Quilt Show/Festival sew day from 9AM
to 3PM at the church where we have our meetings.

I have attached the pattern for the Schlep bag and will bring plenty of printed patterns on
Wednesday.  So if you can’t make it on Saturday but want to make a bag that would be fabulous!  I have been basing the schlep bags on 7″ squares.

Basically you need:  4 coordinating fabrics for each side of the
reversible bag, plus fabric for the handles.  Each side does not need to
coordinate, you can mix it up!

Each side will need:
four 7″ squares of three of the fabrics and
two 7 1/2 squares of the fourth fabric (the 7 1/2 squares will be cut in
half to make 4 triangles).

Tracy

Happy New Year!

I’ve found some links for you!

This is paper (Iris folding instructions and video tutorial), but would be beautiful in fabric!

Making fabric twine.  I do something similar – My version is zigzagging strips of fabric together with fancy threads. Not as pretty as theirs, but still interesting (and easier on your hands!). I can bring it in if anyone would like to see it.

Get your quilt SCANNED instead of photographed (note discount for SAQA memebers!).

ZIG ZAGS! Who doesn’t love zig zags? This is a neat, no raw edge, no piecing, applique version.

That should tide you over till next weeks meeting!
